Forget Buyer Beware!!!! I take it back! I just got off the phone from a very prompt, polite, and helpful service call from the manufacturer! feelbrightlight.com I searched for and found the packaging for my visor with the plan of sending what I viewed as a defective light back to the company. I saw their web address on the box and decided to write to them about my problem of not getting the visor to turn on again. Within a half hour I received a phone call from them. Turns out "I" was operating the charger under false information. I thought the light came with added instructions that warned not to overcharge the unit. Wrong! I am now informed that it cannot be overcharged. What's more is the life expectancy and performance of the battery and bulbs is well above and beyond. I was grossly undercharging my light and that is why it wouldn't turn on. Please ignore my previous comment and buy this visor. The convenience of a visor with the proper light color and placement above eye level worked wonders in treating all my symptoms of SAD, and I could well qualify as their poster child. This product makes a "night and day" difference in the quality of my life Sept.-March. I most strongly recommend this product. It is money "well" spent.

This light is great - really helped me feel better in the winter. The freedom to be able to move around while getting my light really helps. I am in Cleveland so we really have some gray winters. I wear it from October till March. I even do two - 1/2 hr treatments in December.

Seems like after 3 years of use however that the rechargeable battery may be getting a little weak - which is normal for a battery this long out with over 500 charge/discharge cycles.

This item over charged when plugged in LESS then 24hrs, and would not turn on again!!! That was Fall 2007. I tried it this fall and got it to turn on. I was happlily surprised and got a few more sessions before it needed recharging. I was careful to charge it for only 8hrs and it happened again! I'm now shopping for a light BOX.

My husband purchased the Litebook Elite Hand-Held Therapy Device to alleviate my symptoms of SADS. The unit is extremely easy to use, and I find it boosts my energy after only 30 minutes. However, the light does not seem to improve my depressed mood. The effects equal drinking extra coffee without getting the harmful caffeine. Thus, I am not certain the benefits of this light warrant its cost.

great product with one flaw: the battery holds a charge for about an hour's worth of light. otherwise very nicely designed, well thought out.

Isn't as good as large units. I am not sure it is doing anything besides blinding me while I look at it. I picked this unit because of portablility. Now I wish I had gotten a large unit instead.

The Litebook is a waste of money. Don't buy it. It has done absolutely nothing for my depression. Had I realized it sooner, I would have returned it, but of course you have to try it long enough so as to pass the return date.

The perfect gift for the cranky cubicle dweller who needs to be further cut off from co-workers.

"Watch out for Weidermeyer. He's sitting there staring at the light again. It's not doing a lot for his mood, either."

Background:
I am not a morning person, always snooze until the last minute, & try things like moving the alarm clock away from my bed so I have to get out of bed to turn it off. Also I don't have a large disposable income, but will gladly pay double for any product that actually works. I have been using the "Philips HF3490 Wake-up Light with Dock for iPod" for 2 weeks now & waking up is definitely more pleasant.

Pros:
-The whole gradual light alarm really works. The light is very gradual. I find myself waking up a few minutes before the alarm (sound) actually go off.
-The alarm sounds are pleasant.
-You can control the brightness of the clock & icons (As opposed to alarm clocks which are sometimes so bright they light up a dark room)
-The speaker is decent enough to wake up to, but wouldn't recommend it for long listening or a hifi replacement.
-Bright enough for some additional light.

Cons:
-No Weekend/Weekday Alarm. If it's electronic, this feature should be standard. I like waking up later on the weekends & my iPhone does fill in for this, but I'm buying this because I want to wake up more naturally to an artificial sun.
-Every time I dock my iPhone, it starts playing music. Why? (See 1 of the 1 star reviews for someone else frustrated by this) After docking, you must wait until it turns on (~5 - 8 sec.), then press the Radio/iPod music button 2x, once turns on the FM radio.
-A bit confusing - If you turn the alarm off by moving the little snooze stick up (down is snooze) instead of the Radio/iPod button, this turns off the alarm permanently & you must turn the alarm back on for the next day. Once you snooze, the light stays at that level, no dimmer or brighter. Still haven't learned how to work the dusk simulator, but haven't tried too hard.

Would I buy it again?
I would probably get the model without the iPhone dock & save the $45. I love the light alarm instead of a loud noisy obnoxious "WAKE UP" & the soothing wake up sounds to complement it.
Great idea if the product actually worked for more than a week. The lightbulb stopped working after 7 days of use. You can not replace the lightbulb so I had to return it. Thankfully I purchased through Amazon.
